Louisa Lyne & Di Yiddishe Kapelye

Louisa Lyne is an established singer and performer, originally from Härnösand in the north of Sweden, and now based in Malmö.

She focuses on songs in Yiddish and her repertoire includes both traditional music as well as her own, newly written material. Despite the fact that Louisa didn’t grow up with Jewish traditions, she describes her first encounter with Yiddish as love as first sight.

Louisa Lyne has introduced Yiddish songs to a broad Swedish audience and her work has been recognized and awarded. Amongst others, winner of Der Yiddisher Idol, Mexico City 2019. Together with the ensemble “Di Yiddishe Kapelye”, consisting of accordion, violin, cello, double bass, guitar and piano, the group has captivated and delighted audiences all over the globe.

In 2017 Louisa Lyne & di Yiddishe Kapelye took part in the television show Folkets Musik. Blending Yiddish with Swedish pop they created a unique interpretation of The Ark’s hit song ‘It takes A Fool To Remain Sane’ - S’NEMT A NAR.

In 2018 Louisa Lyne & di Yiddishe Kapelye’s song “Mir Lebn Eybik” became an official theme in Prisma Film’s MURER, which was In cinemas around Europe.

 

We can offer several projects and ideas:

ON TOUR: The band now presents the LUST ALBUM TOUR. New songs and new collaborations when LLYK tour with their third studio album. A vibrant experience both musically and visually, all packaged in a vibrant Swedish world pop sound.

IN CONCERT: Ten songs from LLYK’s repertoire orchestrated for symphony orchestra and band. Arranged by well renowned composer Jonas Nydesjö and premiered in Quito, Ecuador, 26 February 2016.

 

Yiddish Revolution
A school concert program about The Holocaust. Traditional melodies and newly written songs create a powerful and important concert which is completed with pedagogical school material.

 

Women in Yiddish Poetry
Louisa Lyne & di Yiddishe Kapelye present a newly written song cycle, unique of its kind, with Yiddish poetry texts written by women. With imaginative melodies and arrangements rich in detail, LLYK have succeeded in fulflling the task of creating songs that spotlight WIYP.
